Corfu Town is a short drive away, where you will find beautiful Neoclassical buildings, the Museum of Asian Art, the Ionian Academy, and Liston Paved Avenue – where you’ll find lots of restaurants and cafes.

Nissaki, Corfu

The resort of Nissaki is known for its quiet atmosphere, slow pace and beautiful pebbled beaches. Its main centre is found in the heart of the village, with lots of shops and traditional Greek housing, surrounded by pine forests. The main beach at Nissaki is small, but has two tavernas where you can pick up snacks and traditional Greek food. There are lots of sun loungers to hand, and crystal clear waters that make it an ideal location for swimming and snorkelling.

Villas on this part of the island are well-known for their outstanding sea views, and Villa Vrysoulla is no exception. Its star attraction is the L-shaped infinity pool that neighbours the spacious sea-facing terrace, giving you exceptional sea and coastal views.

Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal

Dreaming of a holiday on Portugal’s southern coast? Vilamoura is the place to be. It’s a stylish resort nestled in the heart of the Algarve that is highly popular for its pristine beaches and warm weather. There’s also one of the largest marinas in the whole of Portugal, which is home to over 1000 glamorous boats and yachts. We’ve showcased our TV villas on this part of the island, where you’ll find plenty of glitz and glam with boutiques, clubs, and top-notch cuisine from award-winning restaurants.

Nightlife in Vilamoura is based around the marina, with plenty of bars, clubs and a casino. For day trips, visitors can also take fishing trips, and tours of the island that take tourists to nearby water parks, Roman ruins and attractions. Either side of the marina you’ll find sandy beaches and a surfing school with plenty of watersports – the ideal place for a beach day if you feel like spending time away from your private villa. If you’re considering staying in Vilamoura, we recommend Villa Casa do Mel – a spacious and modern four bedroom property set in the outskirts of the resort. You’ll have your very own home-from-home complete with private heated pool, air conditioning, WiFi and an alfresco dining area.

Villa Casa do Mel, Algarve

Paleokastritsa, Corfu

This beautiful, picturesque resort on Corfu’s west side is iconic for featuring in the Villa Plus TV advert, and is arguably one of the most famous resorts for its beauty and lush olive groves. Its name comes from the word ‘Paleokastritsa’, meaning ‘old fortress’.

The village used to have a castle, where you’ll now find the Monastery of the Virgin, which is home to lots of post-Byzantine antiques. The village isn’t too far from Corfu Town, which you can head to for bustling nightlife, tavernas and shopping. Paleokastritsa stretches along the coast, to a harbour where you can pick up an excursion boat for the day – a great adventure for the whole family. The main beach is smaller than other shores on the island, but is quieter, with calm waters and stunning views.

There are many nearby tavernas selling food and refreshments if you feel like spending a day lazing on the sand. Why not try the beautiful Villa Victoras, just a short drive north and boasting manicured gardens, a private swimming pool and incredible sea views.

With that in mind, here are recommendations of places to go and things to see and do in our ultimate summer 2022 holidays guide.

The Algarve

Expect dramatic cliffs and rock stacks, azure waters and an intriguing culture when you visit the south of Portugal for a villa holiday. The Algarve offers tourists 125 miles of coastline, with stunning sandy beaches to enjoy (many of which boast Blue Flag status). Find your dream holiday villa in the Algarve from our collection of over 200 properties. Whether you want a villa that’s tucked away in the olive groves more in-land, or right near the beach, you can find family-friendly properties in Albufeira, Guia and Praia D’Oura.

The Algarve offers visitors a wealth of attractions to discover. Take a leisurely stroll around Faro Old Town and take in the historical buildings and architecture, play golf on one of the area’s luxurious and world-famous courses, sample Peri-Peri chicken in Guia, take a dolphin safari or boat trip around the coast from Lagos, or put on your walking boots and hike the Serra de Monchique for stunning views of the coastline.

Kefalonia

In need of a villa holiday with a tranquil pace, where you can just lose track of time? Booking a property in the largest of the Ionian islands may be just the ticket. The island of Kefalonia has long been a must-visit destination on many travellers’ lists, thanks to some of the best beaches in the world, warm waters for swimming, fabulous fresh food and a warm welcome from locals. If you’re hiring a villa here for your 2022 holidays, getting a car is recommended so that you and your family can explore the entire island with ease and have all the attractions at your fingertips.

While enjoying your holiday in Kefalonia, take time from your Villa Kristola to visit the popular resort of Lassi, where you’ll find plenty of restaurants, shops, bars and mini markets where you can pick up souvenirs and food for your villa if you are having a family BBQ in your garden. Lassi also offers plenty of day trips to the Blue Caves, Shipwreck Bay and the Island of Ithaca should you want to exercise your sea legs. If you want to delve into the island’s history, visit the historical sites in Sami, including Roman baths and the Agrilia Monastery. Feeling like heading to a remote corner of the island? Drive to Assos, which is mainly habited by locals and untouched by tourism, taking in the scenic beaches and beautiful cobbled streets once you’re there.

Croatia

Croatia is one of the newest destinations on the European holiday scene and has become popular with visitors from all over the world thanks to its rich heritage and culture, fabulous beaches, laid-back lifestyle and evening entertainment. With an extensive coastline that is 1800 kilometres long, you have plenty of beaches to choose from during your summer 2022 holiday with your nearest and dearest. That’s when you’re not splashing about in your villa’s own large private pool, of course!

Soak up some rays on the one of the many beaches on offer along the Dalmatian Coast, which also offers boating trips, snorkelling and water sports. If you’d rather head to the city, Pula, Split and Dubrovnik are all worth exploring. Pula in particular boasts plenty of Roman ruins and even has an amphitheatre that was constructed around the same time as the Roman colosseum (and was built in the same style). During the evenings, both Pula and Zagreb are filled with plenty of restaurants, bars, clubs and live music venues, leaving you spoiled for choice for night-time entertainment.

If you’re thinking of holidays abroad in 2022, why not browse our range of summer destinations, and get planning your next trip with your loved ones.

Swap your home office for a villa with a view

Unless you’re lucky enough to be a teacher with six weeks of holiday to take at once, you’re self-employed or retired, it’s likely that you’ll only have a set amount of time to take off on holiday in one go. Most employers stipulate that their employees can only take two weeks off from work at any one time. In this new climate of WFH (working from home) however, there is a new kid on the block, known as WFV (working from villa). So, what are the benefits of working from your holiday villa? Here are our thoughts…

We’ve become used to waking up five minutes before our Zoom meeting and dressing our top halves appropriately, before spending most of the day at the kitchen table with a laptop. However, wouldn’t you like to switch up this routine and have a jaw-dropping sea view and swaying palm trees as your WFH backdrop? Plus, as remote working continues to become popular for both employers (who can save money on expensive office rentals), and employees (who want a decent work-life balance), it means that many more people can have more control over when and how long they take holiday for. Location is becoming less of a necessity, so why add not take advantage of booking one of our beautiful holiday rentals?

Holiday rentals to WFV (work from villa)

If you’re thinking of an extended summer break, we recommend Villa Ireni Fiskardo, where you can sit on the alfresco terrace at the table with your laptop and take in the incredible sea views of Kefalonia. Just make sure you remember to focus on the task in hand! When your working day is done, just a few steps away is your own private infinity pool, from which you can admire the sun set.

Another family-friendly villa is Villa Junico in the Algarve, where you can set up your office on one of the sun loungers overlooking the pool. Spend more time with your loved ones admiring the views, and at the end of your working day, hop in the car for some dinner in Sao Rafael, or take a five minute drive to the beach.

Those who prefer autumn or winter sunshine with more freedom to take their holiday at any time of the year will love the year-round sunshine and mild climate of Fuerteventura. Stay at Villa Caleta Sunrise for up to a month. or take a week off as holiday, then work the other three weeks enjoying this plush villa with private pool, pool terrace and sunbathing area, and in a location just 20 minutes’ walk away from the beaches, shops, bars and restaurants of the Caleta de Fuste Resort Centre.

Working from villa (WFV) and work-life balance

With such a short commute from your desk to your swimming pool, it’s safe to say that working from your villa means you spend less time working, and more quality time with those you love. Gone are the days when you’d spend hours commuting and checking your emails en-route to the office, or sitting at your desk for hours without taking frequent breaks from screen-time. Working from your holiday villa puts you in a relaxing setting where you can focus on getting work done and be more productive, before spending more time with your family. Working remotely from a villa in Europe or any other location in the world reduces commute stress, helps companies to embrace diversity and inclusion, saves money and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by reducing commuter travel.

Have we tempted you to try working from a holiday villa? Browse our range of luxurious holiday villa destinations and get booking your next trip to a sun drenched getaway.

Where’s hot in December?

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, but with the shops heaving with customers, a long list of presents to buy and family dinners to organise, December can also be the most hectic month on the calendar. If you’re longing to escape to sandy shores and feel a warm sea breeze in your hair, why wait any longer? Make this Christmas one you and your family will cherish with a much-needed villa break to Tenerife or Fuerteventura.

Tenerife

This beautiful Canary Island easily makes our where’s hot in December guide thanks to its balmy year-round climate. Even in the depths of winter, enjoy temperatures of 21°C while lazing by your private heated pool in your luxury Villa Del Conde, complete with epic views of the surrounding mountains and coastline, pool table and BBQ area – and all just a five minute drive from the shopping, restaurants and beaches of Costa Adeje.

If you’re on holiday with children, Costa Adeje has plenty to keep them entertained, including family-friendly beaches that are suitable for watersports and swimming. Playa Fanabe and Playa del Duque are popular Blue-Flag beaches that offer soft white sand, sun loungers and nearby cafes and restaurants. Hop in a Tuk Tuk for just a few Euros to take a whistle-stop tour of the resort, covering beautiful churches and landmarks, bustling markets and beaches. Don’t forget Siam Park too – a Thai-themed water park offering wave machines, water slides, a Thai floating market and rides for the whole family.

To explore a little more of the island, get in the car in the early morning and drive to Hell’s Canyon (Barranco del Infierno), which offers stunning views and a variety of animals, birds and flowers. Take a three-hour hike around the walking trails on offer, and book ahead, as only 300 visitors are permitted at any one time to protect the area. Guided tours are also available. Of course, no visit to Tenerife is complete without visiting Mount Teide National Park. A cable car can take you right to the summit if you’d rather not walk. Or, if you prefer to hike, the reward is well-worth it as you take in the epic views of Gran Canaria and Tenerife. The world’s largest solar observatory (Teide Observatory), is also positioned on Mount Teide, and is great for stargazing on an evening tour.

Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is another beautiful Canary island that easily tops our where’s hot in December list. Enjoy quality time with your family and have a Christmas break to remember in Villa Caleta Heights, complete with its own private heated pool, sunbathing area, outdoor shower and brick BBQ. When you want to hit the beach, it is only a short stroll away.

Fuerteventura boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the Canary Islands, especially on the north-eastern shores. Take in the buzzing atmosphere as locals come to participate in watersports and spend time in the shoreline tavernas. If you like surfing, the beaches near the Correlajo Dunes are very popular, as well as the ‘North Track’ heading towards El Cotillo, where you’ll be sure to have plenty of breeze to ride a good wave.

When you want a slower pace, drive to the island’s small interior villages, where you’ll find stone houses, stunning mountain views and palm trees and gardens aplenty. Visit Betancuria, which was Fuerteventura’s capital until 1834. Points of interest include the Parque Rural de Betancuria, the Betancuria Archaeological Museum and the Santa Maria Church that was once pillaged by pirates.

Food lovers are welcomed in Fuerteventura. As well as plenty of food markets, tavernas offering fresh seafood and vineyards to discover, the island is also famous for its cheese – goat’s cheese in particular (Majorero). Drive outside of the main resorts to farmsteads like Tindaya, which is where the locals buy theirs. We’d also recommend Canarian palm honey if you feel like something sweeter.

Where’s hot in November?

Lanzarote

Make cold, dark mornings and drizzly days a thing of the past on a holiday filled with warm winter sunshine. Jet off to the warmer climes of the Canary Islands and make lasting holiday memories with your family on a villa holiday to Lanzarote or Fuerteventura, which boast high temperatures of 22-23°C. Swap your bobble hat for swimwear and prepare for brighter days and a luxury property with your own private heated pool.

You’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to things to do in Lanzarote. When you’re not enjoying your private and tranquil villa Villa Pacifico, nestled in a quiet location but just 800 yards from the beach, hop in the car and explore everything that this beautiful island has to offer. It’s not difficult to see why Lanzarote made our list of where’s hot in November.

For eight Euros, an absolute must-see when visiting Lanzarote is the Timanfaya National Park, which attracts many tourists every year with its rare species of plants and geological formations. You need to book a tour to visit, as the volcano is still active. Many visitors like to pour water on the ground, which then sizzles and bubbles away to miniature geysers. When you need a bite to eat, indulge in some lunch at Restaurant El Diablo designed by César Manrique, which serves Canarian specialities.

Green-fingered visitors will enjoy visiting the island’s Jardin de Cactus, which is home to over 4,500 different specimens and 13 families of cactus. Take a stroll around the peaceful gardens originally designed by César Manrique, complete with lava ponds, a windmill and a restaurant serving cactus burgers.

Have you come to Lanzarote for a beach break? If you’d rather take things more slowly, azure waters and white-sand beaches are aplenty on this calm island. With 213km of coastline, you can visit quiet beaches like Papagayo, which are dramatic and a little more off-piste, or Famara, which boasts an Atlantic breeze that makes it great for watersports and surfing. We recommend a wine-tasting tour after some fun on the beach, where you can unwind with a glass in your hand while the winter sun sets on another glorious day. Visit Bodegas El Grifo, which is the oldest vineyard in Lanzarote.

Fuerteventura

Offering year-round sunshine (3,000 hours in total), it isn’t hard to see why Fuerteventura makes our where’s hot in November must-visit guide. Famous for its sand dunes, rugged landscape, watersports and some of the best beaches in the Canary Islands, this beautiful island offers travellers plenty to see and do, whatever you like to do on holiday.

Beach lovers will love Villa Buena Vista, which is situated right on Waikiki beachfront and comes complete with its own private heated pool. It’s also just a short walk away from the many restaurants and facilities of Corralejo. While in Corralejo, find the yellow tapas sign in the harbour to discover authentic Spanish tapas bars offering patatas bravas, papas arrugadas, shark stew and mussels. After lunch, wander around the cobbled streets and take a tour of the many speciality shops and boutiques selling handmade souvenirs. For nature lovers, Corralejo is also big on surfing, and welcomes surfers of all abilities. Aloha Surf Academy operates from Cotillo beach, offering surfing lessons to everyone (depending on conditions). Corralejo is also home to the island’s main Natural Park, which offers visitors day trips covering epic views and impressive sand dunes that feel like you’re in the heart of the desert.

Further away from Corralejo, explore Calderon Hondo and organise a guided tour, or take a hike up to its summit yourself. Tours are offered by many major towns on the island, and are affordable. Those who like to explore nature even more off-grid will enjoy the island’s various walking trails. Hire a car and drive to the Barranco De Los Enamorados ravine, which offers breathtaking rock formations and Instagram-worthy views.

Where’s hot in October?

Autumn is in full swing and back home in the UK, the nights are beginning to draw in. Escape the autumn chill to the balmy and beautiful Croatian coast, or the stunning island of Sicily, which both share warm temperatures that nudge the high teens and even 20-21°C on a clear, hot day. Kick back and relax with your family on an exclusive villa holiday in one of our beautiful properties, all featuring private pools, manicured gardens and plenty of chill-out areas. Enjoy a relaxing October half term break in the sunshine when resorts are much quieter, yet the mercury is still high enough for sunbathing on the beach, exploring the sights and spending quality time in your own private pool.

History lovers will love exploring Pula, which is a lively town with plenty of shops, restaurants and boutiques on offer. A popular destination for day-trips, one of the city’s main attractions is the Pula Amphitheatre, which looks very similar to the design of the Colosseum in Rome, perhaps because both constructions were created around the same time, as directed by Emperor Vespasian. Absorb the history and culture of this fascinating landmark, which used to host gladiator fights and jousting tournaments. The town is also famous for its olive oil, so be sure to pick some up for your store cupboard as a holiday memento.

If you’re into nature, book a day trip to the islands of Veli Brijun and Mali Brijun, which form part of Brijuni National Park. Here you’ll also discover a Roman villa, St. Germana church, a safari park and a second-century Byzantine fortress.

Sicily

A calm and tranquil island just off of Italy’s boot, Sicily is a land of cobbled beaches, rugged landscapes, delicious food and wine and fascinating history, which is why it easily makes our where’s hot in October list.

When you want to take time out from the tranquil gardens and private pool of your Villa Rebecca, experience a more lively pace with a walk around the bustling streets of Siracusa, which is just 20 minutes away by foot. Visit the Apollo Temple at the entrance of Ortigia Island, before heading off to the nearby market to stock up on local cheese, wine and antipasti. Real foodies can book a food tasting tour of the city, indulging in arancini, bruschetta, foccacia, cheese, cannoli and various wines. Also worth visiting is Piazza del Duomo  – a pedestrianised square surrounded by the cathedral of Syracuse, town hall and Chiesa di Santa Lucia alla Badia.

Heading further afield, hop in the car and drive to the Valley of the Temples – an incredible example of Greek art and architecture from ancient times. Nature and fitness lovers will also enjoy hiking the Stromboli crater, which is an absolute must when visiting the island. Visitors can freely hike up to 400m, but will need a guide to reach the summit. If you came to Sicily for a beach break, there is no better coastline than Riserva Naturale Isola di Lampedusa – a secluded white-sand beach where loggerhead sea turtles lay their eggs.

Monaco is home to some of the region’s most beautiful beaches, as well as one of the world’s oldest aquariums that makes for a great family attraction, with 6000 species to discover. As Monaco itself is only 200 hectares in size, everything is walkable, so enjoy browsing the many boutiques, restaurants and art galleries on offer. Saint Tropez has a lively upscale harbour that’s heaving with luxury yachts, but is also home to many quaint cobblestoned alleys offering cafes, restaurants, local shops, galleries and upscale boutiques. Don’t forget to check out the Musée de l’Annonciade – just a stone’s throw from the harbour.

Outside of the big resorts, Biot village offers glass blowing classes, where you can make your own stunning glass pieces as a souvenir, while the small town of Grasse is perfect for a quiet lunchtime stroll and some local cheese and bread before taking a tour of the many perfumeries on offer. Also investigate the Musée International de la Parfumerie, which celebrates the history of perfume production. For those who want to get more off-piste and into nature, explore the Gorges du Loup Canyon, which offers bungee jumping, slides and abseiling for adrenaline junkies, and walking and rock climbing for those who want to take a slower pace.

Where’s hot in June?

It’s time to celebrate summer with the perfect villa holiday in the sun. Jet off with your loved one and enjoy glorious weather, blue skies and sizzling temperatures in the beautiful destinations of Kefalonia and Majorca. If you’re wondering where’s hot in June, look no further – these magical islands have some of the best beaches, attractions, food and culture on offer.

Kefalonia

As one of Greece’s largest islands, Kefalonia offers plenty to see and do, including idyllic villages, some of the world’s best beaches and lush green countryside to explore. Together with the delicious fare on offer, you and your loved one will be spoiled for choice during your holiday.

Kefalonia’s beaches are award-winning, and keep visitors coming back time and again. When you feel like a dip in waters that are a little more expansive than your private pool in the grounds of your tranquil Villa Morea, Kefalonia’s 39 beaches offer snorkelling, jet skiing, surfing and boating opportunities aplenty. You may even get the chance to see loggerhead turtles laying their eggs if you spend an evening on Kaminia beach. Other natural wonders to explore include Melissani Lake cave, which was discovered back in the 1950s. Visitors can take a boat ride through the stunning blue waters to get the best views of its impressive cavernous ceiling. If you have access to a car, the Drogarati Caves, with their numerous stalactites, stalagmites and great acoustics, are also worth investigating. A drive to Mount Ainos National Park makes a great day out to connect with Kefalonia’s beautiful nature. Hike around the trails that offer majestic views of the coastline, and you may even encounter a wild pony on your travels.

When you’re hungry, Kefalonia won’t disappoint, with a number of delicious dishes that are reflective of traditional Ionian cuisine. Indulge in fresh seafood that was likely caught the same day, as well as Kreatopita – a traditional Greek meat pie with flaky pastry, or Chicken Tserepa, which is said to have origins in Ithaca. In typical Kefalonian style, pair your meal with a refreshing glass of Corfiot ginger beer (Tsitsibirra), Ouzo or red wine sourced from the island’s vineyards.

Majorca

Whether you like to kick back and relax on the beach, hike across beautiful mountainous walking trails or soak up a little culture and history, Majorca has plenty on offer if you’re thinking of places to go on holiday and wondering where’s hot in June.

This stunning Balearic island is renowned for its long sandy stretches of beach. Playa de Muro on the north coast is great for diving thanks to its long jetty, while Es Trenc on the south is perfect for those looking for calm waters and a range of watersports to keep everyone occupied.

If you can tear yourself away from your spacious countryside Villa Rafaleta, nestled in beautiful grounds and boasting an inviting private pool, Majorca’s capital of Palma is worth a visit. The city has plenty of cycling and walking routes that allow you to explore its Medieval history. Discover Llotja de Palma – a 15th century exhibition hall showcasing public art, before touring the Basilica de Sant Francesc and the Cathedral Le Sou. Continue walking to the Mercat de l’Olivar Market Hall in Palma’s centre, which features a lively market selling souvenirs, homewares, fresh produce and local delicatessen. As evening draws in, stay for dinner at one of the trendy restaurants on the city’s marina and tuck in to local specialities such as Frit Mallorqui and the heart Majorcan soup that is Sopas Mallorquinas.
